Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)

Military benefit paid to eligible survivors

If you are a survivor of a service member who dies in the line of duty or a veteran who dies from a service connected injury or disease, you are eligible to apply for this tax free monetary benefit. Check your eligibility and complete your application on a VA Form 21p-534 Application for DIC, Death pension, and accured benefits by a Surviving spouse or child. Application should be mailed to the Pension Management Center that serves your state. You can get assistance with your claim by visiting your VA Regional Office in your area or visit your Military Casualty Office for your state.
